Replacing the Bezel on Your Vostok Watch – DIY Made Easy

Give your Vostok (e.g., Amphibia, Komandirskie) a fresh look in just a few minutes – easily by yourself. With the right preparation, a gentle lever tool, and some care, the bezel change is safe and clean.

What you need

  • Soft cloth/surface to protect the case
  • Thin plastic or wooden lever tool (no metal blade)
  • Cotton swabs and some isopropyl alcohol for cleaning
  • New bezel or bezel insert matching the model

Step-by-step (DIY)

  1. Protect watch: place on a soft surface, bezel facing up.
  2. Remove bezel: carefully insert a lever tool between case and bezel (I personally use an old cheese knife that is no longer sharp but has a good wedge shape), work around gently with light pressure until it loosens.
  3. Clean fit: clean the click/spring mechanism with a cotton swab, remove loose particles, wipe dry.
  4. Align new bezel: position the index at 12 o’clock, press evenly until it clicks audibly or tactilely into place.
  5. Check function: test rotation direction and smoothness; firm, flush fit without play.

Practical Tips

  • Use plastic instead of metal to avoid scratches.
  • Avoid tilting: distribute pressure evenly.
  • If there is resistance, better to reposition than to use more force.
  • Optional: A touch of silicone grease on the spring provides smoother clicking.

Compatibility

Our DIY bezels and inserts are matched to common Vostok cases. Check your watch’s reference (case back engraving/documents). If unsure: just ask briefly – we confirm fit and recommend suitable options.

Safety and Warranty

The DIY replacement usually does not affect the watch's water resistance as long as only the bezel is removed. For diving or sports use, we recommend having the seals checked regularly.
